About Channels

my.Biola hosts a growing number of channels. Many are intuitive and self-explanatory, but others require a deeper level of training and understanding. This section is a work-in-progress, but will eventually contain information and tutorials about most of the more-challenging channels in my.Biola.

Self-Service Channels

Self-Service channels [also called “Tools” channels] are found on the Student, Employee, Faculty, Advisor, and Budget+Finance channels. These channels provide self-service access to the university’s Banner database from within the my.Biola portal.

Depending on your role on campus and your level of access, you will be presented with links to the various administrative tasks you wish to perform.

Also, since each self-service link represents a link into a different part of the Banner system, help and training is provided by the specific area you are accessing; for example, problems using the Budget+Finance self-service links should be addressed to the Accounting office.

Self-service functions are listed below:

On the STUDENT TAB:

Student Tools: view an unofficial transcript; view your class add & drops; see your final grades for the most recent semester; view any holds on your account and what they affect; view your official student information; see your current course schedule; run a graduation-check (degree-audit) on yourself to check your progress. If you have problems: contact the Registrar’s Office.

Student Employee: complete your timecard online; complete your commuter card online; access Banner directly (if your job on campus involves direct interaction with Banner). If you have problems: contact Human Resources.

Registration: this will appear as a separate tab during the pre-reg and registration periods. If you have problems: contact the Registrar’s Office.

My Account: See you most recent billing statement; initiate a credit card or electronic debit payment. If you have problems: contact the Accounting Office.

Financial Aid Requirements: shows what forms/paperwork you still need to submit to complete your Financial Aid packet. If you have problems: contact Financial Aid.

Financial Aid Self-Service: your current F/Aid status, your eligibility, and what you have been awarded (current and previous). If you have problems: contact Financial Aid.

On the FACULTY TAB:

View class lists, teaching schedules, submit grades; view and/or update your personal information. If you have problems: contact the Registrar’s Office.

On the ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT TAB:

View advisees’ transcripts and degree audits, holds, schedules, and contact information; view class rosters; issue overrides. If you have problems: contact the Registrar’s Office.

On the EMPLOYEE TAB:

Employee Tools: View pay information, leave balances, direct deposit allocations, job title summary; complete your timecard online; complete your commuter card online. If you have problems: contact Human Resources.

MyBanner: for employees whose job requires them to access Banner directly, this channel provides a list of your regularly-used links into Banner. If you have problems: contact your supervisor.

MyReports & Biola Reports: for employees whose job requires them to access Banner directly, this channel provides a list of your regularly-used reports from Banner. If you have problems: contact your supervisor.

On the BUDGET+FINANCE TAB:

Ability to query financial information is based upon your security privileges. Tutorials for these functions are available on the tab. If you have problems: contact the Accounting Office.
