Identities
NetID
This is an extension of your first name, like “jackw9” for example. Your NetID can be found by logging into the Portal, clicking on the “Password” button, and then on the “NetID & Wireless” tab. NetIDs are automatically assigned based on a combination of first and last name, and cannot be changed.
Biola ID Number
This is the number on your Biola ID card, like “879658” for example. Your Biola ID Number is assigned by the Registrar (or HR for employees) and cannot be changed.
Passwords
NetID/Portal Password
Your initial password was physically mailed to you as an incoming student, or given to your supervisor if you are a Biola employee. To change it, log into the Portal and click on the “Password” button.
Blackboard Password
Your initial password is found by logging into the Portal, clicking on the “Password” button, and then on the “Blackboard Password” tab. To change it, log into Blackboard, click on the “Personal Information” link at the left, and then click the “Change Password” link. We recommend you set it to be the same as your NetID password.
BUBBS Password
Your initial password is found by logging into the Portal, clicking on the “Password” button, and then on the “BUBBS Password” tab. To change it, log in to BUBBS (with FirstClass or the online client), click on the “Collaborate” menu, and then “Change Password…” We recommend you set it to be the same as your NetID password.
Account Info / Password Reset
To maintain the security of your account identities and passwords and to comply with FERPA regulations, we are limited in how we share them with you. There are four ways to request your account information, and/or password change/reset:
- In person You may come in person with a photo ID to the IT Helpdesk to obtain your account information. The IT Helpdesk is located in Metzger Lower East, which is building 43 on the Biola Campus Map.
- Phone This option is limited to Alumni who are able to verify their identity with the Alumni Relations department. To request an account have your Alumni Relations representative contact the IT Helpdesk and we will pass your information to you through them. Our phone number is 562-903-4740.
- Email We can reply to email requests for account information only if the sending address is listed in your Portal account. Alternately, the Portal webpage can email you the information automatically when you click on the “Forgot NetID Password?” or “Forgot NetID” links. Be sure to confirm that the email address in the directory is current before sending an email request for an account to the IT Helpdesk. To change your email listing, login to the Portal and choose “Email Preferences” from the Launch Menu. Our email address is it.helpdesk@biola.edu.
- Physical mail (USPS) We can mail the information to the home address on your file. First you should verify this address in the Portal by logging in, choosing “Update My Info” from the Launch menu, and selecting the “Student Information Form.” Once your address information there is current, you can make your request by contacting the IT Helpdesk.
